1.Quote与quotation相对应的动词是quote.做报价解时的基本结构是quotesbapriceforsth Pleasequoteusyourlowestpriceforwalnuts.请向我方报核桃价有时不说以介词for短语表示的商品,就成为quotesbaprice Pleasequoteusyourlowestprice.请向我方报最低价有时只要直接宾语,而省略其它部分就成为quoteaprice Pleasequoteyourlowestprice.
2.Happento这一结构和动词连用,可以用来强调一件事是偶然发生的如Ihappentoknowyourarewrong.但这一结构和名词连用,则表示“临到……头上”如Ifanythinghappenstohim,letmeknow.如果他遭到什么意外,请通知我另外,happento也常与if与should连用If(Should)youhappentopassabreakers,pickmeupabrownloaf,wouldyou?如果你碰巧经过面包店,请给我带一个黑面包

7.Intendintend打算,是正式用语,指“心里已有做某事的目标或计划”,含有“行动坚决”之意,如Iintendedtowritetoyou.我要给你写信mean也含有“想做某事”的意思,可与intend互换,但强调“做事的意图”,较口语化,如Imeantogotobedearliertonight.今晚我想早些睡觉另外类似的词还有propose,指“公开明确地提出自已的目的或计划”,如Iproposedtospeakforanhour.我想讲一小时
8.Appreciateappreciate指对…表示感激、感谢如Ireallyappreciateyourhelp.我真的很感激你的帮助第三课复习重点
1.underseparatecoverunderseparatecover表示“另封邮寄”,对应于enclose.Enclose表示“随函附寄”除了underseparatecover还可以用byseparatemail,byseparatepost;或byanothermail,byanotherpost注意这几个词意思完全一样,但搭配不同
2.Offer在国际贸易中,可作报价解的除quote与quotation外,还有一个常用词,即offer.Offer作报盘解时,既可作名词用,也可作动词用Offer作名词用时,常与动词make,send,give等连用,后接介词for或on,或of,接for最普通,接on较少见,买方提及卖方的报盘时,即说到对方已报某货的盘或某数量的盘时,常用of.如Pleasemake(send,give)usanofferfor(或on)Walnuts.Yourofferofwoodoilistoohigh.(当然,在这若用for或on也对,但用of较好)Offer做动词时,可以不及物,如Wewillofferassoonaspossible.我方将尽早报盘也可以及物作及物动词用时,宾语可以是人,可以是物,也可以有双宾语Wehopetobeabletoofferyounextweek.我们希望能于下周某一天向你方报盘Wecanoffervariouskindsofcottonpiecegoods.我们能报盘各式各样的棉布WecanofferyouIronNailsatattractiveprices.我们能以具有吸引力的价格向你报盘铁钉严格讲quote/quotation与offer不同,quote/quotation是报价,指某一商品的单价,offer是报盘,除单价外,还包括数量,交货期,付款方式等等另外,offer比较固定,卖方价格报出后,一般不能轻易变动,而quote/quotation则不同,卖方报价后,不受约束,可以根据情况略加调整尽管有区别,但各国商人则往往把这两个词混用这一点要特别注意另外,在使用时,还应注意下列习惯用法Pleaseofferus500BicyclesCIFLondon.Pleasequoteusyourlowestpricefor500BicyclesCIFLondon.注意动词quote的基本用法toquotesb.apriceforsth.动词offer的基本用法tooffersb.sth.
3.Induecourseinduecourse是商业书信中的成语,有时用副词duly,意指情况正常按时到达
4.Atseller‘s/buyer’soptionatseller‘soption表示由卖方决定,而atbuyer’soption则表示由买方决定
5.Acceptable,Accept,Acceptanceacceptable是形容词,可接受的;accept是动词,接受;acceptance是名词,接受在报盘有效期内接受报盘的全部条款,达成交易我们就说Weacceptyourofferof2000kilosblacktea.或Weconfirmouracceptanceofyourofferof…若买方只是说Yourofferisacceptable.Weareacceptingyouroffer.都不应理解为业务已经成交,对此必须特别注意,以免在实际业务中发生误会
6.conformationconfirmation是名词,表示确认第四课复习重点
1.tobeindebtedtosomebodyforsomethingtobeindebtedtosomebodyforsomething是这种句式基本语序,但在实践中,如果somebody是一个比较长的短语,为了使整个句子读起来更通顺,更容易理解,就可以把它挪到句尾tobeindebtedtosomebodyforsomething.如本课WeareindebtedforyouraddresstotheCommercialCounselorsOfficeoftheAlgerianEmbassyinBeijing.我们得知你公司的地址,要感谢阿尔及利亚驻北京大使馆商赞处在这里,要感谢的人是theCommercialCounselorsOfficeoftheAlgerianEmbassyinBeijing.阿尔及利亚驻北京大使馆商赞处,这是个比较长的短语,所以放在句尾
2.inform/adviseTheyhaveinformedusthat……该处已经告知我们……Inform做通知讲时,可与advise换用常用结构a.宾语后接of短语inform(advise)somebodyofsomething.不过近来国外来信有省略介词of的现象Weshallinform(advise)you(of)thedateofshipment.我们将把装运日期通知你方b.宾语后接从句inform(advise)somebody+that/what/which Wewishtoinform(advise)youthatbusinesshasbeendoneatUS$110permetricton.我们已经以每公吨110美元的价格成交,特此告知c.兹通知(你们)……Pleasebeinformed(advised)that……Pleasebeinformed(advised)thatwehavealreadysentthesamplesrequested.兹通知你方,我方已经将所索样品寄出注意如果省略宾语(人称代词)则不宜使用inform.如Pleaseadvisethenameofsteamer.请告知船名Pleaseadvisewhatquantityyoucansellayear.请告知每年可销售的数量在这种情况下,不能用inform,只能用advise.
3.inthemarketforsomethinginthemarketforsomething是书面语言,表示想买进某物如课文中YouareinthemarketforChemicals.你公司要购买化工产品除此以外,inthemarketforsomething也可以引申于“乐于接受某物”如Imalwaysinthemarketforgoodnewideas.我总是乐于接受有益的新建议inthemarket是想要买(或卖)的意思如Pleaseadviseuswhenyouareinthemarket.当你们想要买(或卖)时,请告知我们Inthemarket还可以做“上市,出售,可以买到”解,同onthemarket可以相互替代如Thisisthebestarticleonthemarket.这是市场上可以买到的最好的商品又如Thearticlewillbeonthemarket.商品本周就会上市其他一些在商业中会用到的market词组atthemarket主要用于交易所,意思是照市价,照当前最好的行情bringtomarket,putonthemarket,comeintothemarket都可以用来表示在市场上出售,投放市场如ThenewcolorTVwillcomeintothemarketsoon.新型彩色电视机不久将投放市场loseonesmarket失去做买卖的机会如Wedontwanttoloseourmarketbystickingtohaveitatthemarketprice.我们不想因为坚持按市价购进而失去做买卖的机会priceoutofthemarket(商品)定价过高而无人购买如Ifyoudontacceptalowprofit,youllpriceyourselfrightoutofthemarket.如果你不同意降低利润,就只有漫天要价无人问津了
4.Encloseenclose是动词,表示“封入”商业信件中常有在enclose后加herewith的,如Weencloseherewithacopyofourpricelist.但最好不用,因enclose与herewith在意义上重复表示附在某封信内,用介词with或in Pleaserefertothepricelistenclosedwith(or in)ourletterofAugust
5.请查阅8月5去信所附的价目表过去分词enclosed作表语时,常倒装置于句首如AcopyofourExportListareenclosed.在课文中将enclosed倒装EnclosedherewithisacopyofourExportList现随函附寄我公司出口商品表一份过去分词enclosed作宾语补足语时,也常倒装置于句首或置于谓语动词之后Enclosedpleasefindacopyofourpricelist.(或Pleasefindenclosedacopyofourpricelist.)随函附寄我公司价目表一份过去分词enclosed可作名词,前面加定冠词Webelieveyouwillfindtheenclosedinteresting.我们相信你们对所附之件会感兴趣
5.Requirementsrequirement表示需要时,常用单数,后接介词of Wehavenotedyourrequirementofsamplesandcatalogues.我们已经注意到你们需要样品和商品目录表示需要的货物或需要量时常用复数,后接介词for或of WecanmeetyourrequirementsforWalnutmeat.我们可以满足你方对核桃仁的需要PleaseletusknowyourannualrequirementsofWalnuts.请告知你方对核桃的年需求量注意表示满足需要,除meet外,还可以用satisfy,fill,supply等动词
6.Promotetopromotebothbusinessandfriendship促进业务和友谊;可替代的用法是topromotefriendshipaswellasbusiness.
7.tradein和tradewithinourtradewithcustomersintheAsian-Africancountries我们在同亚非国家的客户进行贸易时;trade做动词用时,表示“从事贸易,做生意,经营”注意和某人做贸易接with,经营某项商品接in.如Theytrademainlyincottonpiecegoods.他们主要经营棉布询价和报盘
1.descriptionofanarticle/nameofcommodity意思是商品名称在商业书信中,我们常常可以看到许多表示商品或货物的词汇,如commodity,goods,article,merchandise,cargo,material,item,product,supply,order等下面简单介绍一下这些词汇的用法commodity是比较正式的用语,通常指较大范围的商品,尤其指一个国家的主要商品Commodity是可数名词goods不是指一件商品,而是统指货物Goods永远是复数形式,不能与数词连用Merchandise也是泛指商品,不特指某一商品,但没有复数形式,前面也不可加不定冠词article作商品解时,常常指一种商品,而不是指一类商品,同一种商品而有不同规格,商品编货号,常用此词,如在课文中Cargo=goodscarriedinaship.即船上所载的货物如Thesteamersailedwithfullcargo.该轮满载起航注意这里不能用goods代替cargo.说与装运有关的货物时也可以用cargo,但不如goods普通如Weexpecttoshipthegoods(可用cargo)inafewdays.如果不是在船上的货物,又跟装运没有关系的货物,不能用cargo,如Assoonasthegoods(不能用cargo)areavailable,wewillcallyou.material一般指作原料用的商品item名词item本义是“项目”,但在商业函件中常用来代表前面提到的货物,如Wenoteyourareinterestedinwalnutmeatbutregrettoadvisethatthisitemisnotavailableatpresent.尤其在介绍目录中的商品项目时常用此词,如Youcanbuytheseitemsthroughthecatalogue.你能从目录中买到这些项目product指产品supply和order的用法,在第二课精讲中讲过
2.支付termsofpayment支付条件外贸中常用的支付方式有3种
(1)Remittance MailTransfer(M/T),TelegraphicTransfer(T/T),DemandDraft(D/D)
(2)DocumentaryCollection a.Documentsagainstpayment(D/P)Documentsagainstpaymentatsight(D/Psight),Documentsagainstpaymentaftersight(D/Paftersight)Documentsagainstacceptance(D/A)
(3)L/C信用证是可数普通名词,单数为(a)letterofcredit,复数为lettersofcredit;但在商业书信中常作大写,单数为(a)LetterofCredit,复数为LettersofCredit;且常用大写缩写,单数为(an)L/C,复数为Ls/C.此外,商业书信有时也用credit一个词表示信用证,复数为credits.开立信用证,最普通的是openanL/C,比较正式的说法是establishanL/C,从银行的角度可以说issueanL/C.改证是amendanL/C.展证是extendanL/C.关于信用证的常用词组即期信用证letterofcreditavailablebydraftatsight,letterofcreditpayableagainstdraftatsight,letterofcreditavailablebysightdraft,letterofcreditpayableagainstsightdraft,sightL/C(在商业书信中常用);远期信用证usanceL/C,timeL/C,termL/C.注意见票后多少天支付的说法很多,常见的有L/Cavailablebydraftat30daysaftersight见票后30天付款;usanceL/Cat30daysaftersight见票后30天付款;timeL/Cat30daysaftersight见票后30天付款;termL/Cat30daysaftersight见票后30天付款;usanceL/Cat30days见票后30天付款;timeL/Cat30days见票后30天付款;termL/Cat30days见票后30天付款其他confirmedL/C保兑信用证,irrevocableL/C不可撤消信用证,documentaryL/C跟单信用证,transferableanddivisibleL/C可转让与可分割信用证,revolvingL/C循环信用证,backtobackL/C背对背信用证,reciprocalL/C对开信用证另外,当数量条款定有溢短装条款时,付款条件中也应有所反映Payment Byconfirmed,irrevocableL/Cpayablebydraftatsight.TheL/Cshouldincludeaclause5%moreorlessforboththequantityandtheamountallowed.保兑的、不可撤销的信用证付款信用证必须包括装货数量和总值都有5%溢短的条款Payment Byconfirmed,irrevocableL/C,allowing5%moreorlessbothinamountandinquantity.保兑的、不可撤销的信用证,数量和总值均允许5%溢短此外,付款条件的替代用法很多Payment Byconfirmed,irrevocableL/CpayableatsightagainstpresentationofshippingdocumentsinChina.保兑的、不可撤销的信用证,凭装运单据在中国即期支付Payment(paymenthastobemadeby)Byconfirmed,irrevocableL/Cpayablebydraftatsightwhichshouldreachusatleastonemonthbeforetheshippingdate,andshouldremainvalidfornegotiationinChinauntilthe15thdayafterthedateofshipment.保兑的、不可撤销的信用证,至迟应在装运期前一个月开达我方,在中国支付,信用证有效期至装运期后15天止Forpayment,pleasearrangeforanirrevocableletterofcredit,validuntilJune30,tobeopenedinourfavourwiththeABCBank.关于付款,请安排由ABC银行开立以我方为受益人,有效期至6月30日截止的不可撤销的信用证Paymentshouldbemadeunderanirrevocableletterofcreditwhichistobeopenedinourfavourwithinaweekafterthedateofyourorder.付款条件,在你方定货后一个星期内开立以我方为受益人的,不可撤销的信用证
3.价格合同中的价格条款包括单价(price)和总值(amount)表示单价用介词at.合同中的单价条款包括4个部分计价货币、计量单位、贸易术语、单位价格金额报价时,这4个部分一定要完整,缺一不可凡价格中不包括佣金或折扣的,即是净价有时为了明确说明成交的价格是净价,在价格术语后可加注“净价”(NET)字样例如US$35perdozenF.O.BnetShanghai每打F.O.B.净价上海35美元
4.Subjectto subjectto……视……而定,以……为条件如ThisofferissubjecttoyourreplybeingreceivedbySeptember
1.本盘9月1日前复到有效Thisofferissubjecttopriorsale.本盘以先卖为准Thisofferissubjecttothegoodsbeingunsold.本盘以货物未售出为准
5.Tobeinapositiontotobeinapositionto表示能够,是外贸书信中常用的成语,与can和tobeableto是同义词
6.Tobedesiroustobedesirous表示渴望可以接不定式短语Wearedesiroustoestablish…;也可以加of接动名词Wearedesirousofestablishingtraderelationswithyou.
7.Byreturnbyreturn表示立即,收信后立即回信,是书信中常见的成语,只是这成语有点陈旧还盘
1.usualtermsusualterms表示按惯常条款除了课文中的用法“offeringus50longtonsofthecaptionedgoodsatStg.235perlongtonCFRShanghai,usualterms按惯常条款给我方50长吨标题货物报盘”也可以用termsasusual代替usualterms,用on,accordingto,under代替逗号如……,offeringus50longtonsofthecaptionedgoodsatStg.235perlongtonCFRShanghaion(accordingto,under)usualterms(termsasusual)……,按惯常条款给我方50长吨标题货物报盘
2.因价格高而不能接受报盘……ourend-usersherefindyourpricetoohighandoutoflinewiththeprevailingmarketlevel.……我方用户认为你方价格过高,与现行市场行情不一致在谈到价格高低时,可以用price,也可以用quotation.如Wefindyourquotationtoohightobeacceptable.Prevailing的意思是“流行的”,level的本义是水平,常常被引申为价格(水平)如Businessishopefulifyourreduceyourlevel.如果你方能够降低价格,成交有望又比如tosellsomethingatyourlevel.按你方价格出售某物或tosellsomethingatourlevel.按我方价格出售某物prevailingmarketlevel是指现行行市outoflinewith……表示“与……不相符合”outoflinewiththeprevailingmarketlevel是指与现行行市不相符合类似用法Yourcounterofferisnotuptothepresentmarketlevel.你方的还价不符合现行的市场水平Yourpriceisnotonalevelwiththecurrentmarket.你方价格与当前的市场水平不相吻合Yourcounterofferisnotatallinkeepingwiththecurrentrate.你方还价不符合现行的价格水平注意,与……不相符合是outoflinewith………,而要说与………相符合则是inlinewith……如Whileourpriceisinlinewiththeprevailinginternationalmarketrate,wearenotinapositiontoconsideranyconcessioninourprice,muchtoourregret.我们所报的价格完全符合当前国际市场行情,歉难在价格上作任何折让另一种常见的表达法为incompliancewith…………如Ourquotationisincompliancewiththepresentlevel.我们所报价格符合当前市场水平
3.reply和answer reply和answer这两个词都是既可以作名词,又可以作动词在商业函电中,常用reply,不常用answer.作为名词answer和reply都接介词to,如ananswertoaletter,areplytoaletter.作为动词,answer既可以用作及物动词,又可以用作不及物动词因此,toansweraletter和toanswertoaletter都可以说,当然前者比较普遍Reply用作“答复”解释时,只可以作为不及物动词用因此,可以说toreplytoaletter,不可以说replyaletter.谢绝还盘
1.Onthehighside谈论价格高到什么程度Yourpriceisabithigh.你方价格有点高Yourpriceisonthehighside.你方价格偏高Yourpriceisexcessive.你方价格过高Yourpriceisratherhigh.你方价格相当高Yourpriceistoohigh.你方价格太高Yourpriceisprohibitive.你方价格高得令人望而却步Yourpriceishigh.你方价格高这是说价格高,而价格低可以说Yourpriceislow.你方价格低Yourpriceisonthelowside.你方价格偏低Yourpriceistoolow.你方价格太低我们还常说Yourpriceiscompetitive.你方价格有竞争力Yourpriceisacceptable.你方价格可接受Yourpriceisreasonable.你方价格是合理的Yourpriceisattractive.你方价格有吸引力Yourpriceisunreasonable.你方价格不合理Yourpriceisunworkable.你方价格做不开Yourpriceisimpracticable.你方价格不可行Yourpriceisinfeasible.你方价格行不通Yourpriceisrealistic.你方价格不现实在这种情况下,既可以指价格高,又可以价格低,需要视情况而定一般说,出自买方之口指高,卖方之口指低

3.Foryourinformation foryourinformation=foryourreference是供你方参考的意思但如果遇到严肃的事,就不宜用这一短语
4.Seeourwayclear seeourwayclear是设法的意思,clear在这里可以用,也可以省略
5.keepusposted(informed,advised)ofdevelopmentsatyourend意思是请随时告知你处情况的发展(变化)除了用attheend,还可以用类似用法还有inyourplace;inyourregion;inyourarea;onyourside;inyourmarket; inyourcity;等等确认定货与谢绝定货
1.reducereduction reduce是动词,reduction是名词,后面接介词in,意思是减低、减少减价还可以用cut.如Inordertoclosethisdealweshallfurtherreduce(cut)ourprice.Wehavemade8%reductioninourprice.另外,减到某一程度用bringdownto,如WebringdownourpricetothelevelyouindicatedinyourletterofAugust
5.略减用shade,如Weshadeourprice.
2.Referringto referringto=withreferenceto意思是关于,是商业书信中常用的短语,尤其在一封信的开首句里第十课至第十一课复习重点
